Welcome to Brick Scholars, where learning meets creativity, and play is synonymous with education. Since our establishment in 2015, we’ve been on a mission to transform education through hands-on STEAM experiences, using LEGO® bricks as building blocks for knowledge and imagination.
Philosophy and Values
FUN THAT CHANGES THE FUTURE
Brick Scholars is a mobile STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) lab providing educational, creative, and innovative learning opportunities for children to brick and learn.
Brick Scholars’ STEAM focused curriculum provides engaging, creative and fun educational programs and professional development using LEGO® Education products. Our programs are facilitated by a certified LEGO® Education Academy trainer and North Carolina educator with a BA in Special and Elementary Education and a MA in Creative Writing. Brick Scholars’ classes are designed using Best Practices teaching and learning methods. Each class uses a standards based curriculum and integrates research-based and brain-based educational theory, including LEGO® Education pedagogy and Constructivism Educational Theory. Creativity and fun are the focus; learning is the outcome.
Our classes, workshops, and residencies meet Common Core Standards, Next Generation Science Standards, and National Core Arts Standards.

Megan Oteri is a certified LEGO® Education Academy trainer and North Carolina educator with certification in Special Education K-12, Elementary K-6, and Language Arts 6 – 12.
Brick Scholars’ programs are designed to bring the joy of learning to life through innovative STEAM-focused education. We offer a diverse range of programs, from Legocies Brick by Brick to Robotics and Coding, engaging participants in hands-on, minds-on experiential learning adventures. Our curriculum, built on Common Core, Next Generation Science, and National Core Arts standards, ensures that each class stimulates creativity, improves communication, and exercises critical thinking.

Meet your instructor
Megan Oteri
Megan Oteri is the CEO of Brick Scholars, a mobile STEAM lab that offers programs to children and adults. She is active with organizations that research, promote and advocate for playful learning such as the LEGO Foundation, Play in Education Development & Learning (PEDAL), and the US Play Coalition. She is a sought after speaker and workshop designer for STEAM, LEGO SERIOUS PLAY, design thinking, playful learning, and creativity conferences and workshops. She has worked with PreK to university level students and educators throughout the United States and globally.
Megan has a Masters Degree in English with a concentration in Creative Writing from East Carolina University and a Bachelors Degree in Special and Elementary Education from Providence College. She is the United States ambassador for the Agency for Cultural Diplomacy.
